We have witnessed shocking and tragic events unfold in Ukraine. The news of this crisis has taken over TV media, the internet, and social media. As much as possible, please try to limit your young children's exposure to the news and images. Older children, upper elementary and middle school, may wish to have deeper conversations about the historical events taking place. In this case, having an honest, age-appropriate dialogue opens up an opportunity to teach your children a bit about the history and also to discuss your family's values and beliefs.
As with everything, children see and hear more than we know. They may not understand what they have heard and are afraid to ask questions. Monitor your children for signs of anxiety or stress, and reassure them that they are safe and loved. We will monitor this at school as well, but please keep us posted so that we can help.
