Preschool

I am a native Californian and have spent most of my life on the Peninsula. I have always loved working with children. My vocation became clear while babysitting as a teenager. The children’s mother commented on how loving and nurturing I was with her children. She helped me realize that a career in teaching was in my future.

I received my AA degree in Child Development from Los Angeles Harbor College. In addition to my course studies, I also worked in their preschool. It was only natural for me to continue my studies at the well-known Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena for teachers. I focused on Child Development and received my B.A. in Human Development in 1982. I enjoyed learning how to provide children with the experiences and environment that will stimulate their senses and inspire their curiosity. I believe that children learn best through play activities and a nurturing atmosphere.

I have been teaching preschool in schools in the Palos Verdes area since 1978. I also have experience in after school care, but my true passion lies in working with small children in a learning/play environment. I have been happy working at Peninsula Heritage School since the fall of 2000. I enjoy working in a school that shares and encourages my teaching philosophy.

Peninsula Heritage’s loving, caring and exciting academic environment allows me to continue developing as a teacher. In 2007 the State of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing awarded me a Child Development Master Teacher Permit and a Child Development Site Supervisor Permit.

I enjoy simple things in life-living where I grew up, taking long walks, reading a good book and traveling to see my family.
